Magical uses: Hibiscus flowers are used in brewing a potent red tea with known aphrodisiac properties. Due to this, women in Egypt are prohibited from consuming the tea.

Hibiscus flowers have been utilized in love incenses and sachets, as well as being incorporated in marriage ceremonies and traditional practices in the tropics. In Dobu, a region located in the Western Pacific, sorcerers use them in divination rituals, placing a few flowers onto a wooden bowl of water.

The tropical plant is used to make a wellness tea, as an ingredient in cosmetics and as a natural dye. The beautiful, deep red and purplish-hued dried flowers lend an attractive red color to teas that have it as an ingredient.
